SUMMARY:Online Teaching and Learning for Medical Schools (Metro Manila Batch)
DESCRIPTION:PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: \nThis training program is designed for the faculty of all medical schools and internship training hospitals.  It consists of a series of seminars\, workshops\, webinars and group discussions to assist participants in transitioning to online and blended modes of teaching and learning.  It aims to empower the faculty to enable medical students and interns to achieve intended learning outcomes and optimize the use of teaching-learning opportunities while maintaining the safety of trainees in the face of the current COVID-19 pandemic. \nTARGET PARTICIPANTS: \nMedical school faculty \nConsultants and faculty members of hospitals offering internship training programs \n  \nPROGRAM OUTCOMES: \nParticipants who have completed this training program should be able to: \n\ncreate appropriate and relevant course modules that may be used in online and blended learning environments\nredevelop discipline-based content in modular form that meets the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Association of Philippine Medical Colleges (APMC) standards\, and are aligned to quality and equity issues as well as institutional requirements\ndeliver the curriculum in flexible blended/online mode\, harnessing available digital tools for didactics\, online interactivity\, and pre-clinical/clinical skills development in pedagogically informed ways.\nAppreciate PAASCU quality assurance guidelines on virtual accreditation of medical programs\n\n  \nLEARNING OUTCOMES: \nAt the end of this training program\, the participants should be able to: \n\ndiscuss the key concepts in online\, blended\, distance and flexible learning;\ndescribe the roles of an online teacher\, including what knowledge and skills these entail;\nreview the existing instructional designs that participants have prepared or are currently teaching in an online/blended learning mode;\ndiscuss options for clinical teaching online\, to include virtual rounds and teleconsultations\napply the tools featured in selected learning management systems to maximize their use in clinical teaching\nredesign learning activities\, instructional methods\, and delivery strategies for online/ flexible learning as necessary;\nconduct online assessments that are aligned to learning outcomes\nshare best practices in online teaching and assessment\nappreciate approaches in ensuring quality nonconventional pedagogy in medical education\noutline the new PAASCU guidelines on virtual accreditation of medical programs\n\nEXPECTED OUTPUTS: \nRedesigned instructional designs/course packs that are aligned to expected learning outcomes and relevant to the current COVID-19 pandemic context; actual learning products like an online test with a correct blueprint\, video recorded teaching demonstrations of one online activity
